Local Schools visit Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry
Friday 26th February 2010
The Department has hosted a number of laboratory sessions with local schools recently. The pupils normally have a great time (and work hard) - and we think it's a good sign that the schools usually ask to come back again!
After taking part in the lab session, the pupils are often encouraged to pursue chemistry or science as a career. One of the teachers recently emailed: "Our pupils were really impressed and enthused about their morning in the labs."
A range of events and initiatives are available for school teachers, including school visits, tours of the department, training days, Advanced Higher investigations and meetings for teachers. Further laboratory visits will be hosted throughout the year, normally during University holidays when the laboratories are available.
If you have a school group (S5 or S6 pupils studying Chemistry) that you'd like to bring in, please contact Pauline Connell.

Pictured above are pupils from St Andrews & St Brides East Kilbride, who visited recently.
