Professor Jim Fraser
Professor Jim Fraser has over 25 years experience as a forensic scientist and has been an expert witness in many high profile UK and international cases.
His specialist areas include, blood pattern analysis, hairs, fibres and investigation of sexual offences.
Research interests include standards in forensic science, evaluating new technology and methodology, use of forensic science in the criminal justice system.
Dr Nigel Watson
Dr Nigel D Watson has almost twenty years experience as a forensic scientist and as an expert witness.
His specialist areas include DNA testing and trace evidence analysis.
He currently teaches DNA analysis, Nucleic Acids Chemistry and microscopy.
His research interests are in novel methods of DNA testing.
Dr Niamh Nic Daeid
Dr Niamh Nic Daeid has over 10 years experience as a forensic scientist and expert witness. Her specialist areas include fire investigation, drug analysis and the statistical and Bayesian evaluation and evidence.
She has published and delivered over 80 research papers and presentations in international journals and at conferences.
She is a lead assessor for CRFP and a member of a number of ENFSI working groups. Her current areas of research include drug profiling, fire investigation and the statistical interpretation of data.
Dr Adrian Linacre
Dr Adrian MT Linacre is a Registered Forensic Practitioner in the areas of body fluid examination, DNA and blood pattern analysis.
For the last 10 years he has conducted casework and appeal cases in the UK and acted on international cases in Europe, Asia and Africa.
He has published over 40 papers in international journals and written over 10 book chapters.
His current areas of teaching include evidence evaluation and all areas of forensic biology.
Dr Sarah Cresswell
Dr Sarah L Cresswell has over 3 years experience as a forensic scientist.
Her specialist areas include the chemical analysis of trace evidence, drugs and explosives.
She teaches transferable skills, environmental forensics and aspects of law to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
She has previously published articles and a book chapter on analytical and environmental chemistry.
Current research interests include environmental forensics and drugs of abuse.

Ainsley Dominick
Ainsley Dominick has completed 3 years of postgraduate forensic science research prior to undertaking the role of teaching fellow within the Centre.
Her teaching is focused on the development and delivery of the laboratory practicals in the MSc Forensic Science course.
She has presented at both national and international forensic science conferences and has previously published articles in peer reviewed journals on fingerprint enhancement.
Her current research interests include fingerprint identification and enhancement, and other areas of forensic chemistry.
Dr Hilary Buchanan
Dr Hilary Buchanan has been with the Centre since 2004, during which time she completed her MSc and PhD. Through the MSc, she worked in conjunction with SPSA Glasgow to identify the optimum technique for enhancing latent prints on untreated wood. Her PhD research focused on the synthesis of MDMA ("ecstasy") and subsequent profiling using both stable isotope and impurity analyses.
She has presented her work through international conferences and published in international journals. She has also co-authored a book chapter on drugs of abuse.
As a post-doctoral researcher in the Centre, she is continuing her research into drug profiling and broadening its scope into the areas of data analysis (in a forensic context) and environmental forensic science.
Dr Shanan Tobe
Dr Shanan Tobe has been with the Centre for Forensic Science since 2003 and has completed both an MSc and PhD during that time. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow with the Centre and an honorary research associate at Glasgow University.
He has published 16 papers in international peer reviewed journals, two book chapters and delivered 25 poster and oral presentations at international conferences and invited symposia.
His current research focuses on the identification of endangered mammalian species from commercial products such as Traditional East Asian medicines, jewellery, wine, pelts and bush meat.
